Who is responsible

OilPrices.co.za is operated from South Africa and is the responsible party for the personal information described here. We do not sell products, provide credit, or give financial advice. We publish price data and calculators, and we carry advertising.

What we collect

We do not ask you to register, and this site has no contact or enquiry forms. We collect no name, identity number, address or banking detail. Two categories of information are processed:

• Analytics. Google Analytics 4 records pages viewed, approximate location (country/city level), device and browser type, referring site, and interactions such as clicking an advert. IP addresses are truncated by Google before storage.
• Calculator inputs. Distance, fuel price and consumption values you type into the fuel-cost, commute and converter tools are processed in your own browser to display a result. They are not transmitted to us or stored.

Server logs kept by our hosting provider record IP address, request time and user agent for security and troubleshooting.

Advertising and affiliate disclosure

This site displays paid advertising for Century Financial Services (Lime Loans), served through the OfferForge affiliate network. We are paid a commission if you apply for and are granted a loan after clicking one of those adverts. This does not change what you pay.

We are not a credit provider, credit intermediary, debt counsellor or financial services provider. We do not assess, approve or decline any application, we receive no application data from you, and we do not submit any application on your behalf. Nothing on this site is a credit offer or financial advice.

When an advert is displayed, and again if you click it, your browser contacts of0101.com (OfferForge). That request carries your IP address, user agent, the page you were on and a placement code so the network can count impressions and attribute a click. If you click through, the advertiser's own privacy policy and terms govern everything that follows, including any credit application you choose to complete. Credit is granted subject to an affordability assessment in terms of the National Credit Act 34 of 2005. Borrow only what you can afford to repay.

Why we may process it, and for how long

We rely on our legitimate interest in running, measuring and funding a free public information site. Analytics data is retained by Google for 14 months. Advertising measurement data is retained by OfferForge under its own policy. Server logs rotate within 30 days.

Who receives it

Google (analytics) and OfferForge together with Century Financial Services (advertising measurement). Both process data outside South Africa, which POPIA permits where the recipient is subject to comparable protections. We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with anyone else.

Cookies and how to opt out

Google Analytics sets a first-party cookie to distinguish visitors. The advertising pixel may set a third-party cookie used for click attribution. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, use its "do not track" or private-browsing mode, or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. The site's prices, charts and calculators all work with cookies disabled.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to processing, or complain to the regulator. Because we hold no account or identifying record, the practical route for analytics and advertising data is your browser settings and the opt-outs above. Accuracy of the price data

Brent crude figures come from delayed public market feeds and South African pump prices from the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources. Both are provided for general guidance. Verify pump-relevant figures with your fuel retailer before relying on them.
